Gourmand has a very powerful slide, able to traverse up to ~2/3rds of the screen, making it ideal for traversing flat areas quickly.

However, it is easier for Gourmand to enter and remain in an exhaustive state when near predators, in rare cases being triggered only by throwing a rock.

Excessive sliding, jumping, and throwing Spears cause Gourmand to enter this state. Gourmand recovers energy when all controls are released. When exhausted, Gourmand's Spear throws do less damage and travel a shorter distance. When in this state, Gourmand's speed and jump height are significantly reduced. Gourmand has an exhaustion mechanic similar to that of Starving. 3.0 only when not exhausted - reduced to 0.3 when exhausted. Throwing skill affects velocity and trajectory. The list of foods, in suggested order (entries marked with "or" require only one of the two to be eaten):Ībilities & Attributes Stats The food tracker is found above the Gourmand's food bar, and shows any items they have eaten so far, and a flashing icon of the next suggested food, though foods may be eaten in any order. Gourmand also has the optional objective of completing their food tracker with 22 different types of food, which awards an alternate ending and unlocks Slugpups in both the Arena mode and all subsequent campaigns for the Gourmand themself, the Survivor and the Hunter, where they randomly spawn in Shelters.

Similarly to Hunter, the Gourmand can eat from the bodies of slain creatures, though this gives 1/2 the food pips it normally would (save for Centipedes, which all Slugcats except Saint can eat). 7 food pips are required to hibernate, while up to 4 may be stored for the next cycle.
